Art on Main sports two new window exhibitions. Christine Charette and Liz Lott combine their talents in one exhibition while Rachel Robitaille exhibits “Jump in to my world of Colour” a multi-media composition.

RACHEL ROBITAILLE: JUMP INTO A WORLD OF COLOUR

Rachel’s work combines her love and gratitude for the beauty that surrounds her with her awe at the wonders of the universe; each hue, texture and shape that/which comes to hand becomes married on the canvas, creating harmonious interpretations that she hopes will make your heart smile.

Her work is greatly influenced by shapes, textures and colours; she is particularly inspired by glass, beads and textiles, and her suspended mixed-media sculptures and wall tapestries allow her infinite expression using all of these elements.

Each creation is a voyage of possibilities and is imbued with wonder. Their object is simple; to evoke visual pleasure and give thanks for the abundance that she feels surrounds her.

Rachel’s window exhibition can be viewed until April 30th.

CHRISTINE CHARETTE & LIZ LOTT

Christine and Liz have created a combined window exhibit that marries their work, weaving a tale through photography, textiles and jewelry.

Christine dedicates her life to being an artist. She feels that both motherhood and the pursuit of her art are challenging in very different ways, yet they also reflect each other. “They require discipline and patience, as well as ingenuity to create memorable moments… both have such satisfying results as you watch them grow.”

Christine’s disciplines are many and varied, including textile arts, music, painting, jewelry, photography and gourmet cuisine. Prior to having her children in the mid-nineties, she began publicly showing and selling her one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing and accessories made of recycled materials. “I have always approached my sewing like an art, and colour, texture and emotion all play a part in my creations. The strong emotions I have for tending to the environment come into play here, and recycling is such a huge issue that needs to be addressed in more than just the blue box.”

Liz Lott is a full-time artist and professional photographer. In 1996, Liz began painting full-time, exhibiting and selling her work throughout Ontario. Her paintings have been selected for several notable juried exhibitions including the Annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition and the Annual Tom Thomson Juried Exhibition in Owen Sound.

In photography, Liz is drawn to both portraiture and landscape images. She uses older manual cameras and natural light. Her portrait images are intimate and mostly candid. Liz’s commitment and dedication to the visual arts extends into many areas. For 17 years she has taught art to children, and other artistic ventures include her successful greeting card company “golly cards” which are made from reproductions of her chalk pastel drawings, mostly depicting Northern Ontario Landscapes.

This combined show will be available for viewing until April 30th.
