A new campaign called " STEP OUT, STEP UP AND SHOP LOCAL!" has been launched by the local Chamber of Commerce to combat out of the city and online shopping.

“Local businesses create jobs, support the local economy, give to local charities, sponsor youth sports, and more," said Peter Chirico, President of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce.”

“This refreshing campaign encourages people to step into a local business to show their support. You can also support by downloading one of our posters and adding it to your window or download the Step Out graphic to add to your social media account.”

"In an era when shopping online has become routine, local businesses have adapted and stepped up to offer unique products and services that represent local culture, heritage, and flavours," says the release.

‘Step Out, Step Up, Shop Local and support our hometown businesses’ is the next phase of the Step Up campaign across the district.

“Businesses in our region have been greatly impacted by the pandemic,” said Rebecca McGlynn, NBDCC Board Chair. “The Chamber’s ‘Step Up’ campaign is being put into high gear to remind area residents that local businesses need support to thrive and stay open.”
