"The need to advertise in front of the Gardens is a big part of the process and the new sign will allow the display of activity.”

A new LED digital information sign is now up and running outside Memorial Gardens.

The old sign, which was installed in front of the gardens after the city won the Hockeyville community competition back in 2007.   That sign was completely demolished back in mid February.

Back in the fall city councillors unanimously approved the use of FedNor grant money to purchase and install a new $129,000 LED information sign outside Memorial Gardens.

The new sign will replace the digital display boards that had been in use for just under one decade.

"The need to advertise in front of the Gardens is a big part of the process and the new sign will allow the display of activity,” stated Coun. Mark King to BayToday’s Stu Campaigne in the fall about the sign that will be able to display the same type of quality video that fans inside can view on the big screen during Battalion games.

"The general public must understand that this request for funding is coming from the $1.5 million earmarked from the federal government, along with the additional $500,000 that was backed-up by the City of North Bay,” King added about paying for the new digital LED sign.
