On June 5, 2015 a selection committee convened to select a Detachment Commander for the OPP Temiskaming Detachment.

Inspector Dan Dawson is retiring at the end of June and a committee was composed of the Chairpersons of the Temiskaming Shores and the Temagami Police Services Board as well as members from the OPP North East Region Command Staff to find a replacement.

Brent Cecchini has been selected to return home and fill the position of Temiskaming Detachment Commander effective June 29.

Inspector Cecchini has 27 years of policing experience having served in general law enforcement in Matheson for six years and North Bay for seven years.

He was promoted to Sergeant in 2002 in Traffic and Marine and then promoted to Staff Sergeant as the Operations Manager for the OPP Temiskaming Detachment in 2008.

In 2012, he became the Detachment Commander for the OPP South Porcupine Detachment.

In 2014, he was promoted to Inspector as the Detachment Commander of our OPP East Algoma Detachment.

“I am very excited for the opportunity and feel privileged to return to Temiskaming Detachment. I want to continue to build on the great work accomplished by Inspector Dawson. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the Temiskaming area communities by leading an extraordinary group of OPP officers and civilian members” said Cecchini.
