Music and Film in Motion’s (MFM) full day workshop, Writer’s Block: Workshopping your Songs, has been moved from Saturday May 5th to Sunday, May 6th. Guest speaker and Juno Award winner Haydain Neale will help beginner and seasoned songwriters discover new and interesting ways to look at their material. The workshop will be held at Loplops in Sault Ste. Marie from 9am to 5pm.

Songwriters often find it difficult to know when a song is complete. It can be even more difficult to uncover the one element that makes a great song. With a focus on workshopping material, participants will have the opportunity for idea sharing, as the workshop will focus on group dynamics and the advantages of co-writing and sharing feedback. It will also focus on discipline, making time for your craft and making the most out of that time. This workshop is geared towards music artists, businesses and organizations at all levels who want to learn more about working quickly, efficiently and effectively at the independent level.

Haydain Neale is the lead singer of jacksoul, a band known around the world for their soulful and invigorating music. jacksoul enjoys a career of continuous successes and has recently added a 2007 Juno Award for “R&B/Soul Recording of the Year” for their album mySOUL to their list of achievements.

Neale, an active and dedicated member of the community and the music industry, lends his time and his talents to worthy projects such as Musican, Bridging the Gap, and Canada for Asia . He also lent his voice to the title track on the holiday soundtrack Do You Hear What I Hear?, a CD benefiting Kids Help Phone.
