Near North District School Board set for second public ARC meeting

Last spring, the Near North District School Board embarked on an accommodation review process (ARC) for schools to be reviewed for consolidation.

The first ARC process involves the West Ferris area family of schools and includes West Ferris Secondary School, Silver Birches Public School, Ferris Glen Public School, Marshall Park Public School, Sunset Park Public School and Tweedsmuir Public School.

Public input is being sought to review the preferred option of the Board of Trustees and gather other ideas for consideration.

The first public meeting took place on June 20, 2012.

The second and third public meetings (September 19 and October 4 respectively) have been designated for community and parent input.

Participants are asked to provide a written submission two (2) days in advance of the meeting. Participants can visit the Board’s website at www.nearnorthschools.ca/community/accomodation-review/ or call Carrie Girard, Information Officer at (705) 472-8170, extension 5010 for more information on the deputation process for public input.

The second of four public consultation meetings will take place on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Tweedsmuir Public School on 176 Lakeshore Drive, at 6:30 p.m.
