15 year old Desiree Menard of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario was pronounced dead at North Bay General Hospital on New Year's Day after she was found in the water in the Marten River. A postmortem has been scheduled for Wednesday January 3rd, 2007 in Sudbury, Ontario.

(Marten River, Ontario) – Members of the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police are currently investigating a drowning that occurred in Marten River at Land O’Lakes Lodge on Monday January 1, 2007 after 6:00 a.m.

The Ontario Provincial Police and the Martin River Volunteer Fire Department were contacted at approximately 7:05 a.m. on the 1 January 2007 in regards to a missing 15-year-old youth. A short time later the Martin River Volunteer Fire Department attend the scene and recovered a 15-year-old female youth from the Martin River waterway.

The 15-year-old youth from Sturgeon Falls was then transport by Temagami Ambulance to North Bay General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
