Name in snowmobile fatal accident released

The OPP investigation determined that the driver left the roadway, and was ejected off the sled.

On Saturday, December 14, at approximately 6:03 p.m., North Bay OPP officers, with the assistance of the Bonfield Fire Department, and the North Bay Ambulance Service, responded to a single snowmobile accident at the intersection of McNutt road and Development Road in Bonfield.

The OPP investigation determined that the operator, 33-year-old Michael LaPierre of Calvin Township, left the roadway, and was ejected off the sled.

LaPierre was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination has been ordered by the attending Coroner.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the North Bay Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team.
