Multiple charges and $8 M drug seizure in double West Nipissing raid

A search of both places led to the seizure of one firearm with ammunition, two crossbows, drug paraphernalia, packing materials, residential and financial documents, over $700,000 in cash

A combined police effort has resulted in the arrest of three people and a major seizure of drugs in West Nipissing.

OPP used search warrants on two separate houses back on Sept. 15.

A search of both places led to the seizure of a gun with ammunition, two crossbows, drug paraphernalia, packing materials, residential and financial documents, and over $700,000 in cash.

Drugs suspected to be: cannabis in various stages of production, various consumable products containing cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine tablets were also seized. The value of the drugs is believed to be over $8,000,000.

Today, police said as a result of the investigation:

Marc Ayotte, 33, from West Nipissing was arrested and is charged with:

  • Cultivate, propagate or harvest more than four cannabis plants
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance

Ayotte was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 4, 2021, in West Nipissing.

Douglas Hines, 48, from River Valley, was arrested and is charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

Hines was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 4 in West Nipissing.

Zsanett Perger, 41, from River Valley, was issued a summons with charges of:

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Perger is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 4 in West Nipissing.

OPP from Sudbury's and North Bay's Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, North East Region Community Street Crime Unit, North East Region Emergency Response Team, Central and Western Regions Tactical Response Units, North East Region Canine Unit, North East Region Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team and North East Region Critical Incident Command, executedn the search warrants at two separate residences in West Nipissing.
