Isabelle Sauve is part of the 2023 North Bay Sports Hall of Fame Class.

Isabelle Sauvé competed for École Secondaire Catholique Algonquin as a multi-sport athlete and went on to bigger and better things including breaking world records.

Those achievements led her to be part of the 2023 North Bay Sports Hall of Fame Class.

Upon being selected as an OPP officer, she took up running to keep in shape and competed in some 10k events. From that humble beginning, Isabelle has established herself as a top Canadian endurance athlete competing in some of the world’s harshest conditions.

To gain an understanding of what she has accomplished, endurance racing involves a self-supported footrace of approximately 250 km with the athlete carrying everything they need over seven days covering between 80-100 km per day.

Competing in these events is one thing, but to win or place in the top three is a major accomplishment. In multi-stage events in 2018, Isabelle won three of the four Planet 4 desert events and finished second in the fourth event. The 4 Deserts Ultramarathon Series is widely recognized as the most prestigious footrace series in the world.

The series consists of the Namib Race (Namibia), Gobi March (Mongolia), Atacama Crossing (Chile) and The Last Desert (Antarctica). In 2017, she set a course record in the Ancient Khmer Path Cambodia Ultra 220k footrace followed by a top female finish in the Vietnam Raid de Sables 150k race. Competing in over 21 half, full, and ultra-marathons, Isabelle finished no less than 2nd in all the races, having set two Guinness World Records in the process. In 2016, she set a world record in the Perth Kilted Marathon and followed that with a world record in the fastest mixed pair marathon Baton Rouge Louisiana where she and her partner were handcuffed together. The result of the Baton Rouge contest was an eclipsing of the current world record by 13 minutes!

Aside from the ultra-sport competitions, Sauvé is a former Canadian National Triathlon Champion and Multiple International Iron Man competitor.

"Thinking about competing in such a gruelling sport is one thing, but to do it and establish oneself as one of the world’s top athletes in the sport is an incredibly special accomplishment," the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame stated in a release.

Isabelle Sauvé, an ultra-sport competitor record holder and champion, will be inducted into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Davedi Club. Tickets are available by contacting Larry Tougas (705-303-8104), Trista Grant (705-472- 0009), or the Davedi Club (705-474-4190).
