Once again it was an alert citizen that played a role in taking another impaired driver off the highway.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on November 10, North Bay OPP officers got a traffic complaint of a car weaving all over the road, the driver suddenly slamming on the brakes and driving at varying speeds on Highway 11 in Powassan.

Officers spotted the vehicle and after speaking to the driver, arrested him for impaired driving. He was brought to the North Bay Police station for further examination by a Drug Recognition Officer.

As a result, Timothy McKenzie, 42, of Hamilton was charged with "Driving While Ability Impaired by Drug."

McKenzie's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days then was released with a court date of December 4.

Meanwhile, on the evening of November 11, officers were sent to a single motor vehicle accident on Grand Desert Road in Bonfield.

Upon speaking to the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol. The driver was arrested and brought to the North Bay OPP Detachment for breath tests.

As a result, Rebecca Desjardins, 47, of Calvin Township, was charged with:

  •  Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor and
  • Driving with More Than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood.

Desjardins was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

She was released on a Promise to Appear.
