Colgate men's ice hockey sophomore goaltender and North Bay native Colton Point has been named a CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American, announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Friday.
Point is the 16th All-American in program history and first since Austin Smith '12 in the 2011-12 season.

Point is one of just three Colgate players to earn All-American status before their senior season and the first sophomore in program history to be an All-American.
The former North Bay Major Midget AAA Trappers goaltender had one of the best seasons in program history for the Raiders as he shattered several program records with a .944 save percentage and 1.74 GAA. He broke the program's 55-year-old record for save percentage of .930 held by Kurt Brown '64 from the 1962-63 season. Point's 1.74 GAA was also better than the 1.82 GAA from Steve Silverthorn '05 in the 2003-04 season.
In addition to those records, Point tied the program record with six shutouts this season, also held by Mark Dekanich '08 in 2007-08 and Charlie Finn '17 in 2013-14.
Point also set the single-game program record for saves in a shutout with 51 when the Raiders shut out Harvard, 2-0, on Jan. 27. Those 51 saves were also the most in a regulation game by a Colgate goaltender since fellow All-American Jeff Cooper '85 had 55 saves in a game on March 3, 1984.
Nationally, Point finished the season second with a 1.74 GAA and .944 save percentage while his six shutouts are tied for third in the nation. He also finished the year with 982 saves despite missing seven games due to injury and an appearance with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships.
Point won a gold medal for Team Canada, the first Colgate men's ice hockey player to accomplish the feat while a student-athlete. He recorded a 20-save shutout of Slovakia in the preliminary round.
