More fraud charges laid in call centre case

City police have laid more fraud charges relating to earlier events at a local call centre.

On Friday May 29th, North Bay Police arrested and charged James Andrew Albert Whitehead, age 25 with:

  • One count of fraud over $5,000;
  • One count of theft of telecommunications over $5,000; and
  • One count of falsification of books and documents.

Police say Whitehead was employed by a call centre company from January to October 2014, and ordered several cell phones and services for several accounts of clients known to him and then reversed the charges.

Then yesterday, police arrested and charged a 28-year old North Bay woman with:

  • One count of fraud under $5,000;
  • One count of theft under $5,000; and
  • One count of falsification of books and documents.

Police say while she was employed by a call centre company from January 2013 to August 2014, a woman accessed her personal cell phone account and reversed charges on her own bill.

Both accused were released from custody with a court appearances scheduled for July 14th.

It is the policy of North Bay Police to release the names of those accused of the charges of fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000 however they don't release the names of those accused of the charges of theft under $5,000 or fraud under $5,000.
