Mattawa – Two Mattawa OPP officers were busy taking drugs off the streets after five individuals were with possession of cannabis during routine traffic stops in the Mattawa area.

On Friday, June 27th, 2008, on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township, an OPP officer was conducting a routine traffic stop. Further investigation resulted in charges of Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - under 30grams as per s.4(1) of the Controlled Drug Substance Act (CDSA) for driver, Donald LACROIX, 31 years old of Mansfield, Quebec.

Saturday, June 28th, 2008, on Valois Drive in Mattawa, Ontario, routine investigation lead to charges for Serge RIVEST, 26 years old, of Larder Lake, Ontario, of Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - under 30grams as per s.4(1) of the CDSA.

On Sunday, June 29th, 2008 on Valois Drive in Mattawa, Ontario, a traffic stop lead OPP officer with yet another drug possession charge. Passenger, Donna MACKINNON, 45 years old, of Chalk River, Ontario, was charged with Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - over 30 grams as per s. 4(1) of the CDSA; and with Possession for the Purpose Schedule II under 3 kg as per s. 5(2) of the CDSA.

Just minutes later, on June 29th, 2008 on Valois Drive in Mattawa, Ontario, another traffic stop resulted in more drugs and more arrests. Two individuals, Thomas GAYOWSKI, 32 years old, and Geordie MARTIN, 40 years old, both of Sudbury, Ontario were charged with Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams as per s.4(1) of the CDSA.

All are scheduled to appear in court in Mattawa on September 10th, 2008.
