Moose collision leaves one dead, two injured on Highway 11

OPP say one person has died after a collision with a moose on Highway 11 North last night near Temagami.

The vehicle collided with a moose and then left the roadway around 10 p.m. The highway was closed in both directions for over six hours. The person was declared dead at the scene.

Police say the person was 39, but are not releasing a name, gender, or home municipality.

Two other people in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP, Temagami Ambulance Service, Temagami and Marten River Fire Departments responded to the accident.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team continue to assist with the investigation.
