Missing North Bay woman murdered: Toronto police

Homicide has now taken over the investigation

Tess Richey's death has been ruled a murder.

On Saturday, Nov. 25, at 3 a.m., Tess Richey, 22, was reported missing. She was last seen in the Church Street and Wellesley Street East area of Toronto.

On Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 3:30 p.m., she was found dead by her own mother, a family member told BayToday, outside a building undergoing construction.

It would have been her 23rd birthday.

Tess had left her sister, Rachel Richey's home, around 11:30 p.m. Friday night to meet up with an old friend from high school.

This morning in a news release, Toronto Police reported she had been murdered.

Yesterday, Friday, December 1, a post-mortem examination was conducted. The cause of death has been determined to be neck compression. 

Homicide has now taken over the investigation.

Richey's death is Toronto's 56th homicide of the year.
