Art on Main got a 63-thousand dollar shot in the arm from Ontario’s Minister of Culture today.

The Honourable Caroline DiCocco joined Nipissing MPP Monique Smith for the grant announcement as well as soaking up the arts scene in North Bay.

Nancy Slack Co-chair of Art on Main, says the $63,200 grant is an incredible amount that will allow the common not only to market outside the area, but help with product placement as well.

“This grant is a marketing initiative, so we will put together brochures and business cards for each of our members. We’re putting together a website where our artists will also have a webpage and then advertising, like in the phone book and other places that we haven’t been able to be up at to this point,” says Slack.

“The second part is for display materials, we need more displays in glass and wood so they’ll look better in here. We kind of cobbled together a bunch of old wood antique and other displays that don’t show off the work the way they should.”

“The world is our oyster now, we can market not only in North Bay but in the surrounding areas and attract tourists and expand our world.”

The shop will also see lighting improvements to replace the current fluorescent fixtures and a paid staff member.
