Mattawa Voyageur Days 18th Annual Summer Festival kicks off today and continues until Sunday night with lots of activities including concerts and events throughout the community.

Mattawa Voyageur Days 18th Annual Summer Festival kicks off today and continues until Sunday night with lots of activities including concerts and events throughout the community.

“Weekend wristband sales have skyrocketed in the past couple weeks with no indication of slowing down,” said Jacques Begin Co-Chair Mattawa Voyageur Days in a release.

“The music line up is extremely strong this year. The community events will keep you entertained and busy. And best of all, our Mattawa Citizens and Business Community are ready to greet everyone to our beautiful community!”

Day 1 today highlights events and activities for our Children and Youth with Fun in the Sun, Lions Brian Bangs Memorial Kids Fishing Derby. Children and youth activities continue Friday Saturday and Sunday at Timmins Park.

The Mattawa Band Reunions is always a super hit on Thursday night and its free of charge.

A number of free events include the Otto Holden Dam Tour on Friday, COPA for Kids Aviation program on Saturday, Norm Landriault Memorial Show and Shine Vehicle show on Sunday. 

“Our take in Helicopter Rides, the many breakfasts and dinners all weekend, the Firefighters Bingo on Sunday and the ever popular Quest for the Voyageur Title Thai Boxing Event on Saturday – these events have a fee but are worth the watch for sure,” added Begin in the release. 

Music line up includes Mike Trudel, Jess Moskaluke and Dallas Smith Friday, Sam Roberts, Vixen, Trooper, Firehouse and Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Free on Saturday, Shakedown and Dry County Sunday afternoon, Jake and the Fundamentals followed by Tom Cochrane and Ride Rider Sunday night. 

The weekend concert pass is $50.

“Mattawa Voyageur Days wraps up with a phenomenal choreographed fireworks display second to NONE in the province,” added Begin in the release.
