Mattawa Voyageur Days Festival returns for 25th year

The music returns to where the rivers meet over the July 26-28 weekend

Prepare to rock where the rivers meet, because Voyageur Days is turning 25, and you’re invited to the party.

The annual Mattawa Voyageur Days Festival is returning to Explorer’s Point to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The event takes place over the weekend of July 26 to 28.

“The team is very excited about this year as it's going to be extra special because it's our 25th-anniversary festival,” noted Chelsey Grant, Mattawa’s communications coordinator. “We are planning to put on a big show to celebrate the success of this festival and bring in a great crowd to Mattawa.”

No bands have been announced at this time, only the event’s dates. However, the organizing committee is working hard to secure the entertainment. Grant explained that most “should be booked within the coming weeks.”

Sponsorship and vendor packages will also be available soon, she added.

“Mattawa Voyageur Days provides a huge economic impact on our rural northern community bringing in thousands of tourists each year and projected to bring in even more for the special anniversary event,” Grant said.

The event is primarily held in Mattawa’s downtown with the main stage set up at Explorer’s Point, behind the museum. For the past two years, a smaller stage has been set up downtown in Annie’s Park, and the additional venue has been a popular draw.

“The festival brings in tourists from all over Ontario and the country every July to the beautiful historic town of Mattawa,” Grant said.

Announcements regarding ticket sales and entertainment will be updated on the event’s website at voyageurdays.ca or the Mattawa Voyageur Days Facebook page.
