Math contest at Nipissing University

Nipissing University, in partnership with the Near North District School Board and the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board, is hosting a Mathematics competition for senior High school students on Friday March 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in room A117.

School teams will compete against each other to solve four mathematical problem sets, each under a time limit. Participants will receive a short lesson prior to each of the three main problem sets, designed to review the topic and provide hints.

Prizes, courtesy of Nipissing University, will be awarded to the top two teams.

The organizers expect 75-80 students to participate. The following schools are taking part: Almaguin Highlands, Chippewa Secondary, Northern Secondary, Parry Sound High School, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, Widdifield Secondary and West Ferris Secondary schools.

The problems will be marked by students in Nipissing University’s Faculty of Education Senior Mathematics elective.
