Marijuana plentiful south of city over weekend

It appears people were consuming a lot more than turkey over the weekend. Traffic stops over Thanksgiving by Almaguin OPP netted a multiple number of drug charges, mostly involving marijuana. On Friday October 10, at approximately 3:15 p.m.

Traffic stops over Thanksgiving by Almaguin OPP netted a multiple number of drug charges, mostly involving marijuana.

On Friday October 10, at approximately 3:15 p.m., police were patrolling Deer Lake Road in Perry Township. 

The driver of a 1994 maroon coloured GMC pickup truck was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt. 

While the officer was speaking with the driver, marijuana was found inside the truck and both the driver, Krystal COULSON, 31 of Perry Township and the passenger, Thomas STEVENS, 21 of Perry Township were arrested and released for possession of a controlled substance, marihuana.

Meanwhile, on Saturday at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 124 just North of Sundridge. 

Officers spoke to the driver and passenger of a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck and arrested the driver for possession of marijuana. 

Further investigation revealed the driver was also in possession of cocaine.

OPP charged and released Mark FAGAN, 28 of South River Ontario with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

Then, later on Saturday at approximately 8:15 p.m., another R.I.D.E. program was set up, this time on Highway 518 and Almaguin Drive in McMurrich/Monteith Township. 

A grey Ford F150 approached the R.I.D.E. program and after speaking with the driver, officers arrested, charged and released the driver for possession of marijuana.

The accused, Ward LUTZ, 49 of Willow Beach, Ontario is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on Thursday November 13.

And finally, on Sunday at approximately 3:10 p.m., at a R.I.D.E. stop at the intersection of Highway 592 and Bay Lake Road, Perry Township, a grey Ford Ranger pickup truck approached.

After investigation, both the driver and the passenger were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. 

Both accused, Behzad MOHAMMADKHANI, 32 of New Market, and Hojabr RAZAVI-SALMASI, 33 of North York are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, on Thursday December 11.
