Maria Dominico has been selected as the recipient of the Judge Harry J Reynolds Memorial Trophy for her contribution to the sport of hockey.

The former Nipissing Lakers star forward was a key part of a second straight run at nationals and on top of that, she captured gold for Team Canada at the 2023 FISU World University Games which took place in Lake Placid, New York in January of 2023.

Dominico had a tournament to remember as the former North Bay Ice Bolt showed off her goal scoring abilities by putting in 6 goals; the most of any player during the tournament, which included one in the final game. She finished with 11 points, one back of the tournament leader Madeline Leidt of the USA.

The 2022-2023 season was her fifth and final year as a Nipissing Laker and she netted 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 20 games, while leading the team to a second straight appearance in both the McCaw Cup finals and the USports National Championship.

When Dominico finished her OUA career at the end of that season, she finished as the program's career leader in goals (44) assists (46) and points (90).

At the end of the 2023 season Dominico also shared the lead for the highest-scoring single season in the program's history when she scored 26 points (15-11-26 in 2017-18) and her 15 goals were also a record for the most in a single season until this past year (Katie Chomiak scored 16).

Having begun her Lakers career as a recipient of both the OUA and U Sports Rookie of the Year Award in 2018, those events served as the springboard for her greater achievements.

While Dominico is not playing this fall, she is still giving back to the game as a role model for young female hockey players in the region by offering mentorship through skills camps that she runs.

Dominico will receive her award at the 43rd Annual Induction and Awards Dinner to be held at the Davedi Club on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Tickets are available by calling Larry Tougas at 705-303-8104, Trista Grant at 705-472-0009, the Davedi Club at 705- 474-4190, or by contacting any Board Member.
