Man threatens family with weapon

OPP say that yesterday at approximately 6:15 p.m., they responded to a family dispute in Papineau-Cameron Township where a man threatened a family member with a weapon.

OPP say that yesterday at approximately 6:15 p.m., they responded to a family dispute in Papineau-Cameron Township where a man threatened a family member with a weapon. 

Family members were able to escape the home unharmed and the man then barricaded himself.

The OPP utilized numerous resources including the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Crisis Negotiators, Crime Unit and Tactical and Rescue Unit (TRU) in the attempt to bring a peaceful surrender of the man. 

Just after midnight, he surrendered to police and was taken into custody..

A 35 year old male from Papineau-Cameron Township was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon, 
  • Assault, 
  • Uttering Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm, 
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, 

The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victims.
