Man sought in Sturgeon double shooting

Residents in the Drive In road and Leblanc road area are asked to remain in the residences and to lock their doors and windows.

West Nipissing Police and the OPP are searching for a 46-year-old man after a double shooting in that community tonight (Sunday).

Police confirm they are currently investigating a shooting involving at least two people.

The incident was reported at approximately 8:15 p.m. when police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting.in the Leblanc Road area of Sturgeon Falls.

They say they are actively seeking a 46-year-old man.

Residents in the Drive In road and Leblanc road area are asked to remain in the residences and to lock their doors and windows.

The OPP closed Highway 17 in both directions just before 10 p.m. and it remained closed past midnight.

"Highway 17 remains CLOSED in both directions between Drive In Rd and Leblanc Rd #SturgeonFalls - due to a police investigation. Residents in the area may not be able to access their homes at this time," according to their Twitter account.
