Man locked in bathroom stall after robbery

A North Bay man faces several charges following  a robbery yesterday in the bathroom of an un-named McKeown Ave. restaurant.

Police say that shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday an argument between the robber and a male victim turned violent when the attacker struck the victim with a hand tool.

Still holding the tool, he then threatened the victim and demanded the contents of his backpack.

The victim did so, but then was told to lock himself in a stall and not come out.

The victim, who is known to the robber, suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack.

Police were called 30 minutes later, after the victim and the robber had both left the premises.

Shortly after 5 a.m., North Bay Police arrested the attacker at his home.

They also found 19.4 grams of suspected marijuana and 5.8 grams of suspected cocaine, which police seized.

North Bay Police arrested and charged James Larry Boucher, age 18, of North Bay with:

  • One count of assault with a weapon;
  • One count of robbery with a weapon;
  • One count of utter threats to cause bodily harm;
  • One count of forcible confinement;
  • One count of possession of controlled substance (schedule I – cocaine); and
  • One count of possession of controlled substance (schedule II – marijuana).

 Boucher was held in custody for bail.
