Man in critical condition after car hits horse & buggy Update

Powassan OPP and members of the Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit investigated a motor vehicle collision which occurred on Memorial Park Drive, Powassan on December 15th, 2009.

The collision involved an eastbound 2008 Nissan Altima operated by Robert GRAY, 71 years old of Powassan when he collided with an eastbound horse and buggy operated by Omar EICHER, 61 years old also of Powassan.

EICHER suffered critical injuries as a result of the collision but is expected to survive.

On Wednesday, January 20th, 2010, Robert GRAY was charged with Dangerous Drive Causing Bodily Harm as per s. 249(3) of the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear for court in North Bay on February 9th, 2010.

Powassan OPP and members of the Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit are currently investigating a motor vehicle collision that happened on Memorial Park Drive, Powassan. The collision occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m., December 15, 2009.

An eastbound 2008 Nissian Altima driven by 71 year Robert Gray of Memorial Park Drive, Powassan collided with an eastbound horse and buggy operated by 61 year old Omar Eicher of Chiswick Line, Powassan.

Eicher was taken to North Bay hospital by ambulance and later air lifted to Sudbury with critical injuries.

Gray was taken to North Bay hospital with minor injuries.

Memorial Park Drive was closed for about five hours. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
