Here's an unusual twist to car theft.
On December 15, shortly before 10 a.m., Nipissing West OPP responded to the theft of a motor vehicle on Highway 539A, West Nipissing.
It seems a driver stopped the vehicle on the side of the highway and "exited the vehicle to speak with their spouse, following behind in another vehicle. A person then entered the empty vehicle and attempted to drive away, before being stopped by the vehicle owner," says Constable Rob Lewis in a news release.
The thief fled into the bush and was later found and arrested by police.
As a result of the investigation, Robert Savage. 35, from West Nipissing, was charged with, theft of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with a probation Order.
Savage was released and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 1, 2024, in North Bay
