The local Easter Seals “PAPER EGGS” fundraising campaign officially kicked off Tuesday at Sobeys on Algonquin.
Jamie Whiteside, Communications of the North Bay District Council, and the staff and management of Sobeys joined Easter Seals Ambassador Talia Moore for a piece of cake during the launch.
“We are proud to be a part of a campaign that helps kids with physical disabilities, it’s Sobey’s way of contributing to our community” Paul Belanger, Store Manager, Sobey’s.
“We encourage all patrons to donate. It’s a convenient and helpful way to give to such an important cause.”
Whiteside says the $2 eggs can be purchased at 22 local stores in the North Bay and Sturgeon Falls area and notes that all proceeds stay in the community to fund essential communication and mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, braces and communication devices, Easter Seals camps, and funding of recreational choices such as day camps, swimming and art classes for the to help the over 60 families who rely on Easter Seals for financial support.
The district council raised $9,800 in 2007 and they are looking to increase their goal by a thousand dollars in 2008.
