OPP got a surprise Wednesday evening as officers from Almaguin Highlands conducted a joint initiative with the MTO at the Highway 11 inspection station just north of Huntsville.

Officers were assisting the MTO with commercial motor vehicle inspections when a vehicle entered the inspection station, with the driver looking for directions.

The officer suspected the driver had been drinking alcohol as the man drove off south bound on Highway 11.

Police tried to stop the driver, but he exited at the Waseosa Lake Road, then failed to stop at a stop sign, rolling the vehicle into the ditch.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, but the officer arrested him for impaired operation.

Charged is James Livingston, 34 of Etobicoke with the following offences:

  • Driving while ability impaired
  • Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood,
  • Flight while pursued by police officer,
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor,
  • Disobey stop sign,

Livingston was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday June 15, 2016 in Huntsville.
