Today marks the start of MADD Nipissing Chapter’s Project Red Ribbon campaign, designed to combat impaired driving during the holidays.

Working with area businesses, the MADD Nipissing Chapter is asking residents of North Bay and area to tie a MADD Canada red ribbon to their antenna, side mirror, or other visible location on their vehicle and/or keychain. The MADD Canada red ribbon is a symbol of a person’s commitment to drive safe and sober during the holiday season and throughout the year. The red ribbon also serves to remind other motorists to drive sober.

Every day, on average 4 Canadians are killed and 196 more Canadians are injured due to alcohol and drug-related crashes. MADD Canada works to change these numbers each and every day.

MADD Canada’s largest public awareness campaign is taking place across Canada now until the first week of January.

MADD Canada red ribbons are available at various locations in and around North Bay. If you are interested in a red ribbon box in your business please contact the MADD office.
