The art of Luci Fischer made its first public appearance at the WKP Kennedy Gallery Saturday afternoon.

The exhibit titled ‘The Rose: A Fountain of Petals’ will be at the gallery at 150 Main St. from January 13 until January 26.

Luci came about having her own exhibit after showing her work to the gallery’s Curator Dermot Wilson.

“He really liked them and booked my show,” she explained.

“I’m really lucky.”

Luci Fischer first came to Canada from Czech Republic in 1990, eventually making North Bay her home. She explained she chose a rose theme for her first exhibit because they are a subject that a variety of people can relate to.

“A rose blooms and dies very quickly, by painting them I feel like I have paused their lifespan and allowed to last a lifetime,” she said.

“After I painted my first one, I knew I wanted to make a collection.”

Accompanying Luci’s paintings at the gallery are works by her seven-year-old twin daughters.

“They are thrilled to include some of their artwork in their moms show,” Luci said while explaining why she chose to show her daughters' art.

Luci Fischer also hopes one day to be recognized by only the name ‘Luci.’ She explained it is the European version of Lucy.

“Luci is how I sign my paintings,” she explained.

“Hopefully one day I will just go by Luci.”

Also currently on displayed at the WKP Kennedy Gallery is ‘Corporate Wasteland' by David Lewis and Steven High.
