The Domestic Violence Committee of Nipissing will be hosting a Conference and Awards Dinner in North Bay on February 26 & 27, 2009 at the Clarion Resort in North Bay. Over 200 police officers and medical community participants from the District of Nipissing are expected to attend the conference that will focus on the serious issue of domestic violence and feature a number of expert speakers (see attached profiles and agenda).

Featured speakers:

• Retired Lt. Mark Winn from Nashville - a survivor turned trainer in domestic violence
Beyond the Obvious – Avoiding Dual Arrest and Officer Manipulation

• Dr. Robin Mason - a research scientist and Assistant Professor with the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Toronto
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in Minority Cultural Communities
