The North Bay Police Service’s traffic and patrol officers worked together on a targeted traffic enforcement today, specifically targeting drivers for speeding.

The enforcement took place at the Cst. Fred Lefebvre overpass over a three-hour period today.

Within that timeframe, police handed out 25 speeding tickets, with the highest speed clocked at 85 kilometres an hour.

Three drivers were issued 72-hour notices; two for failing to show proof of insurance.

The North Bay Police Service reminds motorists to respect speed limits and to focus on the road when driving.

Motorists are also advised to:

  • share the road with cyclists
  • always look for and make eye contact with pedestrians, especially when turning
  • drive slowly and cautiously through school zones, residential areas, or any other area where children could be walking, cycling or playing
  • watch for Community Safety Zones where the speed limit is reduced to 40 km/hour
