Lots of police checks over the weekend

This Labour Day weekend, officers conducted 17 R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs throughout the area checking a total of 724 vehicles.

The Almaguin Highlands and North Bay OPP were on patrol this Labour Day Weekend. 

From Friday, September 2, to Monday September 5 officers patrolled area highways and outlying roads, towns and villages with a focus on distracted driving. 

This Labour Day weekend, officers conducted 17 R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs throughout the area checking a total of 724 vehicles.

Officers wrote 154 Provincial Offence Notices for offences including 111 speeding charges, three distracted driving charges, 11 seatbelt charges, three Liquor Licence Act charges and two Controlled Drugs and Substance act charges and numerous other Highway Traffic Act offences. .
