Lost Hunter Found Safe
(Loring, Ont.)
A search ended this morning around 9:05 a.m., when a lost hunter was located in the bush west of Loring near the Ess Narrows.

Roy Druce, 49, became lost in the unfamiliar area while hunting. When he realized that he was not going to find his way out and darkness was approaching, he prepared a shelter with a fire and settled in for the night.

Upon waking this morning he walked to a section of water where he saw signs of the presence of other hunters.

Druce spotted another hunter and fired a shot to signal help. When the other hunter realized the ordeal Druce had experienced, he guided him to the Ess Narrows. Officers were advised of the succesful conclusion to the search and Druce was reunited with his hunting party members.

Despite a cold night in the bush and slight frostbite on two fingers, Druce was none the worse for his experience.
Emergency Response Team members, canine unit and the OPP helicopter have been involved in the search since Druce was first reported missing.
