Local volunteers getting the recognition they deserve tonight

Tonight 135 residents of North Bay and surrounding areas, including Mattawa and Corbeil, will receive the Ontario Volunteer Service Award

They certainly don't do it for money, but the satisfaction of helping others and their community.

And tonight 135 residents of North Bay and surrounding areas, including Mattawa and Corbeil, will receive the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in a ceremony for their dedication and continuous years of service to local organizations – sometimes up to 60 years.

Among this year’s recipients:

·         Anita Spalding, for 50 years with Canadian Cancer Society – North Bay and District

·         Claudette Gauthier, for 50 years with Filles d'Isabelle - Cercle Mgr. Lécuyer # 674

Other organizations whose volunteers are being recognized include Scouts Canada, Royal Canadian Legion, Nipissing Trackers, Mattawa Historical Society, Casselholme Home for the Aged, Community Living North Bay, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
