Local School to unveil painting from Ontario College of Art

The students and staff of St. Alexander School are pleased to invite members of the community to join them for a special art unveiling on Monday, November 5. The artwork is a Catholic virtue painting by artist Mike Beddome, a St. Joseph-Scollard Hall graduate who is now a student at the Ontario College of Art.

St. Alexander School Principal, Paula Mann, said it was important for students and staff to have a visual representation of their distinctiveness as a Catholic school which complimented the focus on Catholic virtues. “We chose the passage from the Gospel of Matthew, ‘Let the children come to me’ to represent the painting’s message: that we are all created in the image of God, that the light of Christ becomes visible through the children and us and that Jesus is our master
teacher.”

The unveiling will take place in the school’s front foyer, following a blessing service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
