A local party game in a box got some celebrity exposure this week.

The Game of THINGS, created in North Bay by Quinn & Sherry Inc., was played on the Ellen Degeneres Show Tuesday by celebrities  Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart as part of ELLEN’S annual “12 days of Giveaways” Christmas specials.

Co-creator Mark Sherry was so excited that the game was played by celebrities on international television.

“Ellen is a big supporter of games and we are honoured to be one of her favourites,” said Sherry in a release.

“Ellen’s popularity will introduce THINGS... to a much larger audience.”

Sherry adds that within a day the YouTube clip of just the game play from the episode was at half a million views.

Co-creator Tom Quinn was at the taping of the show on the legendary Warner Brothers Studio lot in Burbank.

”The ELLEN Show” is a massive production and it was exciting to watch it all come together. Just having Ellen hold a copy of THINGS... in her hands was thrilling,” said Quinn.

“THINGS has come a long way since it launched in North Bay. We currently have four versions of the game on sale including last year’s new release of ‘Nasty Things.’”

The local creators also plan to launch a mobile version of the game in the fall of 2017, and many more interesting versions are in the works.

The Game of THINGS is a a fun, easy to play game created by local inventors that presents players with provocative topics such as “THINGS... you shouldn’t do when you’re naked”, “THINGS...people do when no one is looking,” and “THINGS...that could get you arrested,” and allows each player to say whatever comes to mind.

The more out of character the players are, the greater their chances of survival as other players will try to guess who wrote what and knock them out of the round.

The game has sold almost 3 million copies in Canada and the United States alone and has just expanded to the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

The games are currently for sale in all major department stores and independent stores in North America.
