The North Bay Regional Health Centre confirmed to BayToday that they have received two COVID-19 transfer patients from Manitoba on Monday.

"I can confirm that we received two COVID-19 patients from Manitoba," said Kim McElroy, Manager of Communications with the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

"We continue to assess our bed situation on a daily basis."

The hospital confirmed in late April that it had received five COVID-19 transfer patients from southern Ontario and just last week confirmed that some of those patients have already been released from the local hospital.

In our western neighbouring province, COVID-19 is taking a significant toll on the provinces health care system.

Due to those rising numbers, Manitoba has moved 14 of its COVID-19 patients to less stressed hospitals in Ontario including two here in North Bay.
