May is Brain Tumour Awareness Month.

"We hope you join us in turning North Bay Grey. We invite you to join our family of food vendor partners throughout the month of May in support of the 2023 North Bay Brain Tumour Walk and thousands of Canadians by donating the proceeds or percentage of the proceeds of a menu item throughout the month of May and turn North Bay Grey," says a news release.

It's an initiative inspired by Nicolas Gignac, a local chef and event committee member in North Bay whose mother, Golda Gignac, lost her battle to a brain tumour. In her memory, he hopes to make this fundraiser an annual event to create a brighter future for Canadians facing a brain tumour diagnosis and bring the North Bay community together to #TurnMayGrey.

The North Bay Turns Grey initiative will be celebrated at the 10th anniversary of the North Bay Brain Tumour Walk, which typically draws over 300 participants from across the region, on Sunday, June 11, at the Rotary Rotunda & Kate Pace Way.

"We look forward to spreading the word that North Bay restaurants are instrumental partners in helping us put hope into action for the brain tumour community," says the release.
