Great news for local bodybuilder Blake Gauthier.

The 46-year-old heart attack survivor who has shed more than 200 pounds of fat since 2018 is moving on through a major bodybuilding magazine contest that is driven by online voting.

Gauthier shared his unique story with Muscle and Fitness and applied to be part of their contest that could put him in the centrefold of the popular health magazine and more importantly a big cash prize of $20,000.

He was chosen as one of 30 out of 1,000 applicants to be represented in the online fitness contest.

"Round one of the contest ended Thursday and I am proud and honoured to have made it into the second round," Gauthier told BayToday.

"This round widdles is down from the top 15 to the top 10 and runs for seven days. I’m currently in fifth place and cannot thank North Bay and everyone who’s voted for me to help me get this far.

"I actually have a shot at winning this if we can rally the town."
