Hot new local band "Break The Trend" are looking for a breakout of their own following the release of their "Talk Is Cheap" E.P. release, containing the single "Hey Darlin".

The band is already getting some local radio play, currently in hits rotation on 101.9 The Fox.

"I think they are very talented and we’ve put the song into regular rotation," said The Fox Program Director Mitch Belanger. "I think they have a good shot at signing a record deal like North Bay’s High Holy Days did back in the 2000’s.  Listener reaction to the song has been great."

The band consists of John Fournier: Lead Vocals/Guitar, Alex Lajambe: Percussion/Vocals, Lucas Mullins: Lead Guitar and Pat Pharand on Bass/Vocals.

The band has even had some surprise American airplay.

"It's going really well," Lajambe told BayToday. "A guy from Jacksonville Florida played our song and apparently it is doing well there too. They're saying they're getting overwhelming requests."

Hey Darlin' came about after vocalist John Fournier walked into a grocery store.

"He saw a very good looking woman, and in his mind he said 'Hey darlin'. He came up with the chorus right there and wrote the rest after."

A news release describes their EP as "sex driven" and "the musical equivalent to all your promiscuous, uninspired nights of drunken debauchery. Break The Trend brings together classic anecdotes of sex, drugs, and rock and roll along with modernized and nostalgic sounds to deliver a unique music experience."

The group recorded the songs in Windsor, Ontario and Lajambe calls the experience "amazing".

"We pulled up to this place and it's just this guys house, and we were paying a good amount of money so right away I was kind of skeptical about what was going to happen because we came all this way just to record in a guy's basement.

"And then you walk in and it's just this insane studio, professional as hell with at least 500 grand of equipment in it. It was nuts. Being there with all these toys and guitars, amps and drum set to play with---

Lajambe feels it made the band's sound more polished.

"It brought us to that next level, more professional especially with that song because it brought out the classic influences in it---more of a classic rock sound."

The band is fresh off an Ontario tour called “Ontourio”.

Now, it's busy preparing for the album release on June 26th in physical and digital formats.

It will be accompanied by a CD release show/party, taking place at the North Bay Granite Club that night.

Tickets will be available at Music City, Waxman Records, Eastend Variety, and at the door for $10. Pre-sales will be available soon. The first 50 pre-sale tickets come with a copy of Break The Trend's E.P. "Talk Is Cheap".

Doors open at 7:30pm.

Opening the show is Cole Fournier at 8:30, followed by Endeavour at 9:15. Break The Trend will be taking the stage at 10:15. Exiled will then make a brief appearance at 11:15 followed up by the energetic I May Profess at 11:45 p.m.
