Local Arts groups receive provincial funding

Close to $65,000 was handed out today by the province to several local arts organizations through the Ontario Arts Council, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced Wednesday.

Close to $65,000 was handed out today by the province to several local arts organizations through the Ontario Arts Council, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced Wednesday. 

Project grants include $20,000 to Aanmitaagzi through the Aboriginal Arts Projects program toward its Dances of Resistance, Legacy Year that aims to celebrate, honour and carry forward achievements of Dances of Resistance.

A $20,000 cash injection to Zakide (it catches fire) through the Aboriginal Arts Projects program toward a series of Indigenous arts panels and presentations and a large component of the Dream Big Conference.  

A total of $14,900 to Windsong Music through the Northern Arts program toward its Windsong Music Festival, which is dedicated to presenting original Canadian artists, facilitating mentorship and artistic growth for emerging songwriters and performers.

Nipissing First Nation and Northern Images Festival eached received $5,000 for a pair of projects.   

“My congratulations go out to all these organizations for their commendable and continued dedication to our vibrant arts and culture community in Nipissing,” said Fedeli in a release.
