A former North Bay resident who has caught the eye of some of the biggest talent stars will be coming to North Bay in early July to perform.

Comedian Ahren Belisle, who went to middle school at Centennial and high school at West Ferris, was recently given four "yesses" from the high-profile judging panel on the NBC series America's Got Talent for his unique comedy routine.

Belisle made the judges Howie Mandel, Simon Cowall, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum chuckle, poking fun at himself as well as his Canadian heritage.

The 28-year-old North Bay native who now lives in Toronto, lives with cerebral palsy and uses a computer-generated voice from his phone to help with his comedy routine which impressed the high-profile panel of judges.

"It's been a wild year and it is only getting wilder," Belisle said on social media about his newfound fame.

"Thank you all for your tremendous support so far and for your future support."

Belisle, who is an engineer, explained he got the confidence to perform from some comedians in Portugal after he made them laugh just over a year ago.

Now he's been traveling the country and sharing his act which will bring him to Northern Ontario and North Bay.

Belisle will perform in Sudbury on June 30 at Little Montreal and then head to North Bay to perform at Lou Dawgs in downtown North Bay with local comedian Andre Raymond, hosted by Sudbury's Shawn McLaren. The show will begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $20 by reservation. You can call (705) 478 5838 to book your seat.
