Linkie is calling it a day

Chief Administrative Officer for the City of North Bay Dave Linkie announced his retirement today.
Chief Administrative Officer for the City of North Bay Dave Linkie announced his retirement today.

Linkie, who started with the city as a summer student 34 years ago, says that after nine years in the CAO’s chair the time is right to retire and he will leave at the end of July.

Calling it the best hire the city ever made, Deputy Chirico broke the news to city politicians, staff and officials during a news conference at City Hall this afternoon.

“Your leadership will be sorely missed,” he told Linkie.

“The legacy you leave will live on for a substantial time.”

Echoing Chirico’s sentiments Mayor Al McDonald said he knew the day would be coming but it doesn’t make the situation any easier.

“I am going to miss him no question,” states McDonald.

“He has a way to bring people together.”

“It is good that he leaves on his own terms but a sad day for us … we have a great respect for him.”

Embarrassed by all the fanfare Linkie thanked everyone for their support during his tenure.

“It’s been an eclectic career, but a fun one. It’s been a really good time,” he says noting that the city is in good shape.

Linkie says the things he will miss most are all the people he has had the opportunity to work with and get to know over the years.

“It is a great organization.”

“I am fortunate to work here.”
