The busy summer season is here and downtown retailers have staffed their stores to meet the demands of eager shoppers, and tourists. Along with the increased volume of transactions comes the risk of inadvertently getting stuck with counterfeit notes.

How can you prevent losses from counterfeiting?

The answer is simple: ensure that all cash handlers are trained to identify fake notes without slowing the flow of customers at the cash register. The Bank of Canada can help. The Bank will show you how to distinguish fake from genuine notes. It’s quick and easy to do.

The Bank will have be holding a seminar at the location indicated below to show cash handlers and the public how quick and easy it is to keep counterfeit notes out of their tills and pockets! Marie Terrien, of the Bank’s regional office for the Ontario region, will be available to provide information, answer questions, and distribute free educational materials. Sample notes will be available on-site so that you can put your new skills to the test.
