There have been no new fires reported in the East Fire Region within the last 24 hours and the hazard continues to be low throughout the region.

FireRangers and emergency support personnel from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources are providing support to the storm recovery efforts going on in the City of Vaughan with a total of 53 personnel.

Extensive training in hazardous environments and in chainsaw use in forest fire situations makes FireRangers well positioned to provide assistance in recovery situations such as storm clean up. In addition to the personnel, chainsaws and other support equipment is being provided.

Ontario support also continues with the firefighting effort in British Columbia as new fires challenge the fire service in that province. Rotation of personnel continues with 91 personnel deployed to British Columbia today and 120 personnel returning to Ontario on August 24. The total number of Ontario personnel in British Columbia is 299.

Always remember to be FireSmart http://www.ontario.ca/fireprevention. If you're planning a campfire, remember to pick a designated campfire pit if available or choose a safe site on bare rock or soil, keep the fire small, never leave it unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving the site.
