Large crowd takes in Christmas Walk

It was the 27th Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Walk.

There was a distinct lack of snow, but not people or enthusiasm as a large crowd braved chilly conditions at this year's Downtown Christmas Walk.

Following some music supplied by the St. Joes - Scollard Hall marching band, the event started at 6 p.m. with the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree after a proclamation read by Dave Saad, North Bay's town crier.

Then with the flick of the switch, the lights sprang to life and the celebration was on.

Taking part this year was MPP Vic Fedeli, MP Anthony Rota, Mayor Al McDonald, Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette, Councillor and DIA Manager Jeff Serran and a man dressed in red called Santa Claus, much to the delight of the children.

It was the 27th Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Walk and ran from 6 to 9 p.m.

As well as stores opening their doors and supplying treats and drinks, activities included Sky-High Bucket Rides from North Bay Hydro, and horse and wagon rides, Rail Jam at Cheapskates, roasting marshmallows, and activities at Discovery North Bay.
