The North Bay District of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is reminding area residents that Lake Nipissing remains under a flood watch.

Lake Nipissing water levels increased slightly. Further changes in the lake level will be dependent on weather and any increase in inflows.

The ice sheet has broken up, and a large part of the sheet has melted thanks to the recent warm temperatures. MNR reminds residents that there is still a possibility of ice damage, specifically to properties along the shoreline.

MNR also reminds area residents to take action to protect infrastructure along shorelines and in flood-prone areas and to exercise caution around water bodies and any low-lying areas.

Unless conditions warrant over the weekend, this watch will be updated on Monday May 6, 2013.

Separate flood warnings have been issued for:

* Sturgeon River Watershed
* French River (below the Public Works and Government Services Canada Dams)
