North Bay City Councilor Judy Koziol, today announced she is running for re-election.

“I am as committed now, as I was seven years ago, to working hard for my neighbours right across the city. People may not always agree with me, but everyone knows that with Judy, you have a councillor who will listen to your concerns and try to find the best solutions.”

Koziol is currently Chair of Engineering and Environmental Services and Public Works and voluntarily sits on numerous boards and committees including; Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee; Nipissing District Housing Corporation Board; Nipissing District Social Services Administration Board, Executive Committee, Ontario Works Task Force Sub Committee, Community Housing Task Force Sub Committee, Emergency Medical Services Sub Committee; North Bay Municipal Heritage Committee; North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit and the Waste Resources Liaison Advisory Committee.

In addition to her elected responsibilities, Judy is a strong supporter of many local causes and continues to run a small business with her husband, Anthony.

“We have a responsibility to give back. My parents were both immigrants to this country and I am a proud first generation Canadian. My parents both instilled in my brothers and me the notion that we must work hard and contribute to our community.”

Since first elected in 2003, Judy has donated a third of her annual Council salary to local causes including, the arts, programs for the less advantaged, children and youth, sports and so on.

“It is a blessing to live in a country and a city where we have such opportunity. Helping others is a duty we all share, I am happy to do my part.”

The next four years will pose challenges for North Bay, but Judy is ready to meet them head on while taking advantage of all possible opportunities the city is presented with for moving forward.

Judy said, “I am focused on the next four years. We will continue to have ups and downs but I know the experience I have gained as a councillor will help to guide me as we move forward. It is an honour to serve on council, and I am grateful for having the opportunity to do so.”
